LifeLike by Kay Kristoff- 2 stars [arc review]

Sorry guys, I know you are all waiting for this book and hoping it is yet another masterpiece by the amazing Jay Kritoff but sadly I cannot tell you that I enjoyed this book all that much. It was ok, but nowhere near as amazing as everything else he has written. There is NO comparison.  For the blurb go  here . Here is what I liked: the last page! That was a very good ending and it has the potential of making a fantastic second book. I will read the next book because of that last page alone. The rest was either just ok or on the verge of being the most boring book I have read this year. The first half was really slow, to the point I had to convince myself not to dfn it because it was a Kristoff book. I was tempted... so very tempted. At that point it got a lot better. The story picked up and got more interesting. The problem than became predictability. The story of cyborgs turning against their human creators and of a human falling in  love with a cyborg...

One True Love by Linda Kage- 4 Stars [arc review]

One True Love, Linda Kage I am a huge fan of Linda Kage and was super excited to read this. One True Love is Linda's first attempt at fantasy romance and she did a brilliant job! The book was sweet, romantic, beautiful, touching... all the wonderful things I have come to expect from Linda Kage with of-course a touch of fantasy.  The Blurb: Custom demanded that Prince Urban get a love mark tattooed to the side of his left eye as an infant, just like the rest of his people, but to him, the stupid things have only brought on the scorn of his father, the misery of his siblings, and caused his entire kingdom to go broke from fighting so many wars over the irritating ink stains. When Urban’s sister must travel to Donnelly, the kingdom within the sand, for her arranged marriage to align two realms, he goes with her. But he no sooner steps foot inside their castle than his mark starts itching like a son of a bitch, telling him his one true love is near. It just figure...

Guest Author Q&A with Janna MacGregor

Hello sunnies! You know me… when I find a new author to love I must know more about them! So today I am very happy to have Janna MacGregor with us. She writes amazing historical romances and if you browse the blog a little you will find a review or two of her books. Her last book, The Luck of the Bride , was amazing. You must check it out 😊 Hi Janna and welcome to Glimpses Of My Books! It brings me great joy to have you here with me and my readers today, I hope you enjoy your time with us. Thank you so much! I’m delighted to be here today! I’m so happy you enjoyed THE LUCK OF THE BRIDE. When did you start writing? Was it a hobby at first or did you always wanted to be a writer? I’m an attorney by day, and law school makes you learn to write quickly. However, I never really thought about writing romance until about five years ago when I took a Cherry Adair plotting class at the 2013 Romantic Times Convention in Kansas City. Within two days, I had the rough out...

The 5 most underrated YA books (on my book shelves that is!)

Hello sunnies 🌞 I decided to do something a little different today... I sat on my floor, stared at my bookshelf (this may or may not have taken me the whole morning) and came up with 5 books I believe deserve more attention. Without further ado (and in no particular order), here they are: Falling Kingdoms 1- The Falling Kingdoms series! (and the spin off A Book of Spirits and Thieves ) by Morgan Rhodes The majority of you follow me on Instagram  and know I LOVE this series. It has been getting a little more attention since the last book came out this year and I certainly tried my best to get you all reading it. I will never stop! hehe This series spams through 3 kingdoms, and as the rulers of those kingdoms grapple for power their lives collide and are irreparably changed. There are betrayals, murders, secret alliances, magic, forbidden love... I will confess and agree that the first book is a little hard to get into. The book is told from different POVs and ...

I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting (Shacking up #3) - 4 Stars [arc review]

I Flipping Love You I Love Helena Hunting! I read Clipped Wings by her last year and got hooked. I flipping Love You has all of her usual trademarks: sweet romance, drama, sexy scenes... I have to sadly confess though that I am very behind on her books. For example, I haven't read the other books in this series. Embarrassing I know... I am telling you this so you know that I Flipping Love You worked great as a stand alone, so if you like the blurb give it a go regardless if you have or not read the previous books. You can always go back and read the other ones later (I know I will). Blurb: Rian Sutter grew up with the finer things in life. Spending summers in The Hamptons was a normal occurrence for her until her parents lost everything years ago. Now Rian and her sister are getting their life, and finances, back on track through real estate. Not only do they buy and sell houses to the rich and famous, but they finally have the capital to flip their very own beachfron...

Furyborn by Claire Legrand - 4 Stars [arc review]

First things first sunnies: did you see that book cover? Isn't it pretty? I am in love.  Furyborn is the first book in the Empirium series by Claire Legrand. It is what I would describe as high fantasy. It has its own and intriguing world and sets of rules and magic. It evolves mostly around Rielle and Eliana, two independent and strong woman that when posed with similar questions and doubts in their lives choose different paths that somehow connect their lives and the lives of those around them across centuries.  Book Blurb: Follows two fiercely independent young women, centuries apart, who hold the power to save their world...or doom it. When assassins ambush her best friend, the crown prince, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing her ability to perform all seven kinds of elemental magic. The only people who should possess this extraordinary power are a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light and salvation and a queen of blood and des...

Waking to Black by V.H. Luis (Uninhibited Book 1) - 3 Stars [arc review]

Who here likes discovering new authors? It has got to be one of the reasons I enjoy NetGalley for romance reads, I have found a few good books there that I would perhaps not have read otherwise. The blurb: He shattered my defenses, and I was fragile to begin with… The first time I saw Adam Black, I was between the arms of a criminal, a gun to my throat and even then, I knew I was staring at the most dangerous man in the room. Maybe it was his confident, cerulean eyes, or the sex appeal radiating from his pores like heat waves on a scorching day, but by proximity alone he made my vision blur and my heart stammer. The day I was nearly killed in a bank hold-up, I began to live—because of him. Now, I’m praying for the first time in years, hoping the scars of my past, the secrets I keep, don’t interfere with my future… I have so many conflicted emotions!  I enjoyed the book and I could not find it in me to put it down (to the point I forgot my oven on 🙈). But... Adam oh Ad...

Merciless and Ruthless by Gina L Maxwell (Playboys in Love #2 and #3) - 5 Stars [arc review]

This is Emi and Austin's story, it can be read as a standalone, but it is the third story in the Playboys in Love series. Ruthless, the second, is still my favorite. For some reason I didn't post my review of Ruthless here at the time, so you will find it bellow this post. Merciless was freaking adorable! Emi and Austin were so sweet and perfect for each other. For a book that has a somewhat taboo subject, it was surprising to me how romantic and sweet it all was. I didn't even notice the kink 🤣 (seriously didn't. Maybe there is something wrong with me! Haha) The Blurb: I’m not always the hero. Sometimes, I’m merciless. My whole life I've been the good guy—loyal friend, helpful son, dedicated firefighter—but in the bedroom I'm someone else. That’s where my inner villain likes to come out and play. With a kink as taboo as mine, it’s too risky to play with anyone who doesn’t crave it like I do, so I’ve gotten used to depriving that side of me. Then I...

The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green- 4/5 Stars [arc review]

The new book by Sally Green has been described as the Young Adult version of Game of Thrones, and in this case I must say I agree. That is a very accurate description. They are of-course completely different stories, but they have a similar structure/format. I do caution the reader though to keep in mind this is a Young Adult novel, so don't go in expecting it to be as intense as Game of Thrones was/is. It has its moments for sure, but it is never as shocking, as intense.  Before we get into the review, here is the blurb for you guys: A princess, a traitor, a hunter and a thief. Four teenagers with the fate of the world in their hands. Four nations destined for conflict.  In Brigant, Princess Catherine prepares for a loveless political marriage arranged by her brutal and ambitious father. In Calidor, downtrodden servant March seeks revenge on the prince who betrayed his people. In Pitoria, feckless Edyon steals cheap baubles for cheaper thrills as he drifts from...

The Luck of the Bride by Janna MacGregor- 5 stars [arc review]

The Luck of the Bride, Janna MacGregor Break my heart Janna MacGregor. Go ahead! Apparently that is what I said before the book started since that is exactly what the author did. I am not kidding or exaggerating guys, I was teary every 20 pages or so. It wasn't a sad book at all, it was just very emotional and touching. I LOVED every single page and this is no doubt my favorite so far from her.  I laughed, cried, screamed at the book, swoon...  The Luck of the Bride was pure historical romance perfection! Here is the Blurb: March Lawson has never had much luck, and in a desperate move to save her family, she's been posing as the Marquess of McCalpin. But when she's summoned to a meeting with the Marquess himself, March expects jail time…not to be bewitched by dark hair and sapphire eyes. Michael Cavensham, the Marquess of McCalpin and heir to the Duke of Langham, finds himself drawn to March despite the judgments from his peers. He isn't sure he can tru...
